WHAT IS THE ONE QUESTION YOU GET ASKED MOST BY NON-PRACTITIONERS OR NON-PAGANS? HOW DO YOU USUALLY RESPOND?
Stranger- “So do you worship the devil?”
Me- “If you’re confusing me for a Satanist you’re way off on sooooooo many levels. But no, I worship many Gods and Goddesses, and your version of ‘the devil’ is not one of them.”
DO YOU CURSE? IF NOT, DO YOU ACCEPT OTHERS WHO DO?
I’m not a big fan of cursing because I believe the Universe has its own plan and I’d rather not mess with it. However, if others would like to- who am I to judge?
HAVE YOU EVER HAD ANY SUPERNATURAL EXPERIENCES?
Too many to list. Once I was with a person very dear to me on Samhain and we walked through the woods behind his house where a very nasty forest spirit dwells. It was intense. He did not like that I was there. I also work in a very old building that was originally the city’s hospital, lots of spooky happenings here.
WHAT IS THE STRANGEST WAY A SPELL BACKFIRED?
I once hexed someone close to me with an isolation spell. as a way to teach her a lesson. I didn’t know at the time, but all of the information I had received up until that point had been lies formulated by someone else. Ultimately, the spell rebounded onto the liar- leaving her by herself with no friends. While my issues with the original individual were resolved. So it didn’t necessarily backfire, it just didn’t turn out as originally planned.
HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE YOUR CRAFT?
I’m an eclectic hedgewitch, so I’ve built my craft based on multiple traditions and pantheons that focus primarily on divination, nature and spirit work.
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST WITCHY PET PEEVE?
When practitioners treat the craft like competition. Our practice is beautiful and sacred. It is something to be embraced and shared. GTFO here with your elitist attitude. You’re besmirching something beautiful.
DO YOU BELIEVE WITCHCRAFT GETS EASIER WITH TIME AND PRACTICE?
Yes, very much so. It’s like a muscle- you have to exercise it in order for it to get stronger.
WHAT’S ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’D GIVE SOMEONE WHO IS SEARCHING FOR THEIR MATRON AND PATRON DEITIES?
Don’t overthink it, and don’t rush it either. Go with your gut and take your time. It’s okay to be unsure, there are so many to choose from it can be incredibly overwhelming. But you’ll know once you find them.
DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE ANY NATURAL GIFTS OR AFFINITIES (PREMONITIONS, HEARING SPIRITS, ETC.) THAT LED YOU TOWARD THE CRAFT? IF SO WHAT ARE THEY?
I’m an empath, I also have the gift of premonition, as well as an incredibly strong sense of intuition. I don’t often see spirits but I do feel and hear them.
WHO ARE YOUR PREFERRED GODS AND GODDESSES?
My Matron Goddess is Hecate. My Patron God is Odin. I also connect strongly with The Morrighan, Persephone, Mars, Lilith, Baron Samedi and Maman Brigitte
